Get your international students meeting in person.
iNZi matches your international students with peers who share their interests and languages, gets them meeting in person, and shows your office the result.

The challenge
Record numbers arrive. Too few connect with local students.
402,000
international students in Germany in winter semester 2024/25, about 14% of all students
16%
of international bachelor students leave within three semesters, against 13% of German students
28%
reported difficulty making contact with local students in the last large survey
Sources: DAAD, Wissenschaft weltoffen 2025; DSW survey 2016, cited by DAAD.
Today
Most buddy programmes still run on forms and spreadsheets.
Hours of manual matching
Coordinators pair students by hand at the busiest moment of the semester.
Pairs nobody follows up
Matches are made, but no one knows whether the students ever meet.
No evidence for leadership
There is no data to show what the programme achieved, or to defend its budget.
How it works
Four steps from orientation to a first meeting.
Invite
Your office shares a code or QR poster at orientation. Only your students can join.
Profile
Students add their interests, the languages they speak and want to learn, and their levels.
Match
iNZi suggests peers and tandem partners, with a first match within 24 hours.
Meet
Students arrange to meet on campus, with reminders on day 3 and day 7.
Your dashboard shows activation, matches and meetings by cohort. A semester report sums it up for leadership.
For your office
Less manual work, and proof of what your programme achieved.
Your branded space
“Your university, powered by iNZi”: your logo and colours, checked automatically for readable contrast.
Cohorts and invite codes
One cohort per intake, programme or event. Codes and QR posters you can revoke at any time.
Interest and tandem matching
Shared topics, plus language pairs with CEFR levels for tandems. Every suggestion gives its reasons.
Meetings, not just chats
Students arrange meetings in the app and are nudged on day 3 and day 7 to meet.
Orientation programmes
Publish welcome sessions and courses, in person or online, inside your space.
Staff dashboard
Live activation, matches and meetings, by cohort.
Semester outcome report
A PDF for leadership: participation, meetings, local contact and student feedback.
Moderation and safety
Blocking, reporting and a moderation queue. A verified-university badge on every profile.
For students: free, in the browser on any phone, nothing to install, in English and German.

Questions
What International Offices ask us
Does this replace our buddy programme?
No. It runs your buddy or tandem programme with less manual work and gives you data on it. Your coordinators stay in charge.
What does iNZi cost?
Costs depend on the size and length of your programme. Email us at hi@inzi.global and we will send you a quotation.
Can local and German students join?
Yes, and they should. Pairing international students with local students is the outcome most offices care about, and the semester report tracks it.
Do students need to install an app?
No. iNZi works in the browser on any phone or laptop, and it is free for students.
Can students from other universities see ours?
No. Each institution is a closed space, separated in the database. Cross-institution matching is off.
What happens if a student behaves badly?
Students can block and report. Reports go to a moderation queue, and your office can see and act on them.
Is there video calling?
Not in the first year. iNZi is designed to get students meeting in person, on campus.
Can we sign in with our university accounts (Shibboleth, DFN-AAI)?
Not yet. Students join with an invite code or their university email. Single sign-on is on the roadmap for larger licences.
Does our IT team need to do anything?
Nothing for the pilot. There is nothing to install and no interface to your campus management system.
What if the pilot does not work?
The success measures are agreed in writing before launch and reported honestly at the end. If the targets are not met, you are under no obligation to continue.
